Flower Fairies

Last night my friend Cyndi Watkins came over to have fun with my new Fairy Sweets Stamps.  The table was loaded with moss, flowers, sparkles, ribbon, glues and glitters.  Cyndi had brought along a new product called "Flower Soft" that is hard to describe.  It is tiny, spongy material that looks like miniature flowers in an assortment of colors. (See her fairy below for an example. Cyndi used it as a trim.)  I'll have to look for it the next time I go shopping. I am so pleased with how everything turned out and it was a great deal of messy fun. Cyndi molded a cupcake out of air dry clay that was quite impressive.

Hello, friends!  I hope you are all having a wonderful day!  I've just returned from a craft store run and I'm feeling ambitious.  I think I bought a little of everything!  I came home with colored glitters, miniature flowers, moss, flower pots, paints, scrapbook papers, etc.  I'm going to put on a little jazz music and get inspired.  Until I have something to show for it, here is a little freebie - a vintage valentine from my personal collection.  Feel free to copy it for use in your personal art.

Here are the rules again, ladies.

The swap is 10 ATC sized Valentines for 10, due February 1st. Valentine may be any shape, can be a folded card or flat, but no larger than an ATC sized card (3.5 inches x 2.5 inches).

Rules - Send your best work. Valentines should be sturdy, constructed on heavy cardstock or chipboard. Artist must use a minimum of one Oxford Impressions rubber stamp. Include name and email address on the back of each card. Send ATC sized cards and stamped, addressed return envelope to the address below.  (Postage for the Row House Swap ran about $1.67.  I'll make up the difference if I add too many goodies to the bag.)

Bargain Hunting

 

Bargain find at Office Depot

Some days are for work.  Some days are for art.  Some days are for SHOPPING! Tuesday, Shelly Hickox and I went out to lunch and then had to stop by Hobby Lobby. Shelly bought a cool new toy called "the Slice" and I sure hope she lets me play with it.  (It is a scalable, electronic diecut machine that is tiny and portable.) All the Christmas items were 80% off - practically giving it away in our opinion. Buying ornaments with Shelly was fun!  Nothing was bought with the intention of hanging it on a tree. Everything will be deconstructed. I bought rhinestone ornaments that I could pry the stones out of. Shelly found an ornament that would make a great fairy skirt.  I bought some baubles on wires that looked like toy balloons for my new Fairy images.  Everything had such potential! (Maybe it seemed that way because the items were so inexpensive.  I would have a much harder time tearing up something I paid full price for.)

Today, on an office errand, I scored at Office Depot!  The Depot had these "Create your own computer invitations" kits on massive mark down.  The kit includes 50 Handmade Paper Invitations and 50 envelopes to fit them.  It has 50 Translucent vellum papers, 50 cream colored ribbons, 50 response cards and 50 card sized envelopes!  All of this was only TWO DOLLARS! I was unable to resist.  I was tempted to buy them all, but reality set in and saved my attic space.  Now, to think of a vellum project...

Happy New Year!!!

Hello! I hope you all had a wonderful New Year's Eve and are enjoying today. I've taken the day off to make art... Oh.  Wait.  You guys aren't stalking the blog to hear about my art! You are waiting for the news!  <grin!> I am happy to report the Oxford Impressions Design Team has chosen new members! Congratulations to Penny Bennington, Louise Granlund, and Monique Verbeek.  I am so excited you will be joining our team!  First assignment - Fairy Stamps!

I want to thank everyone who applied for the Design Team.  I really, really appreciate it.  So many of you are truly talented and the decision was very difficult.  You all have been generous with your art, your time, and your support.  I feel so blessed!

I also want to take a moment and thank my wonderful Design Team!  I really appreciate all that you do to support me and promote Oxford Impressions rubber stamps.
