Hi! I'm Suzanne Melvin - wife, mother, artist and business owner. When I'm not fulfilling the first two roles, I can be found in my art studio. Rubber stamps are my passion! I design, manufacture and market my own line of unique rubber stamps. I love everything about my work! It is a wonderful "excuse" to make art, read art books and magazines, go to galleries, attend art events and prowl antique stores. Could there be a better job?! I enjoy writing and photography, so I am naturally attracted to the blog format. I'm looking forward to sharing the more interesting parts of my life with fellow art enthusiasts.
My personal taste in art has evolved slightly over the years, but I'm still attracted to the same things over and over. I usually work in collage and prefer a simple, uncluttered style. I like mixed media and find the combination of objects so fascinating! My favorite elements to include in my own art are vintage papers, pressed flowers, fabric and buttons.
I love antiques and vintage items! My art table is a vintage kitchen table from the 40's with a scarred metal top and distressed painted legs. Glass milk bottles filled with twinkling buttons line my window ledge. A well-worn wooden crate advertising "Glove Brand rubber" is a catch-all for my magazines. My favorite piece, though, is my vintage dress form, Camille. (I try not to hold her impossibly tiny, nipped in waist against her.)
I hope you'll enjoy getting to know me through my blog and website. Let me know if you do!
Suzanne
