Suzanne and beginning of Oxford Impressions: A rubber love story!
My passion for rubber stamping began in 1995 when I was living in California. There were a variety of stamp stores and conventions in the area and I was able to indulge my every rubber whim. A few years later when I moved to Mississippi, finding rubber stamps became much more difficult. Stamping had not yet hit the deep South. There were no stamp stores and I had no one with whom to share my interest. Fortunately, the pursuit of rubber led me to discover the joys of the Internet. I was able to shop and connect with artists all over the world by going online.
Even though I now had a powerful tool at my fingertips, I still had trouble finding the particular style of rubber stamp that appealed to me. I strongly prefer realistic rubber stamps and creating art with a vintage flavor. My favorite form of expression has always been creating "art stories" through imagery. For me, the story always starts with interesting characters. Finding my heros and leading ladies, however, was somewhat challenging. Collage sheets had not yet hit the mainstream and I didn't have any old family photographs. As luck would have it, I discovered a company in Florida that was producing a small line of rubber stamps made from actual photographs. I bought every stamp I could get my hands on and still wanted more. I had a wish list that seemed a mile long. I finally concluded the only thing that would satisfy my insatiable desire for rubber stamps was to make them for myself.
My rubber stamp company, Oxford Impressions, went on-line in 2001.Oxford Impressions rubber stamps are created for artists who want the look of realism. We specialize in photo-realistic images, but offer much more. Versatility is the key to our line. We have backgrounds, accents and sentiments in addition to central imagery. Each rubber sheet is filled with as many unique images as can possibly fit.
The rubber stamp artist should be able to create many different art stories from each collection. Collections are also designed to work together and compliment each other whenever possible.I want every artist to have the tools they need to tell the story that is in their heart.
